It’s hard to believe it’s been a year and a half since we last posted on this blog, and that we’ve been living in Victoria, B.C. for most of that time. I’ve often thought about writing more about our travelling, as we’d only covered about half of our trip in our posts. And with some hindsight now, I can think and write about our more memorable experiences.
I’ll jump back in by sharing a few details about what we did in Florida after Disney World. We left Orlando for Cocoa Beach, and stayed in a small, apartment style motel there. We visited the Kennedy Space Center, Ron Jon’s Surf Shop (which is more of a department store now!), and the beach. It was cool to see the open Atlantic ocean after having spent so many days driving east from the Pacific. The water was cold and dark, but the beach itself was beautiful and bright, and people there were friendly.
After Cocoa Beach we drove back to Orlando for a 10-day stay at a vacation rental home. While we were there we visited with the family of an old friend of Eric’s (the sweet Gajos), hung out at Universal Studios (especially in The Simpsons’ area), and made more travel plans.
Oh yeah, and we watched as Donald Trump unbelievably won the presidential election. After all we had seen of Canada and the continental U.S., it was a good time to take off for Hawaii… 🌈
