Wawa:
We have been staying about 14 km north of Wawa in the Makiebares “Wawa’s Premier Waterfront Destination”, in a cabin on Catfish lake.
The bonus for us has been that the kids get their own room, but we have had rain and were getting a little cabin fever… however that is not the story that needs telling…
When we first arrived two days ago, Milo stated that this place was ‘like a dream come true’ – cute little cabin, satellite tv, on the water, etc. Shortly after this I headed into town to get some dinner for us, and to clear my head due to the kids getting on my nerves. When I got back, I found out from Nicole that the kids went down to the water, played in the water for awhile, despite the large stony beach, and promptly learned what black flies were.
Needless to say, Milo wanted to move on to the next location two hours after arrival.
The kids have been a touch gun-shy about heading outside, but we did manage to make it out for a hike to Silver Falls and to Lake Superior’s Sandy Beach, where A.Y. Jackson did some paintings.
